| Zeenith, aka Zeeny, is my 10-year-old Arabian gelding whom I've rasied since the day he was born. Esencially, he is my baby, buddy, and garudian angel. He's an Arab, yes, but he's not that typy, show-quality arabian that one is use to seeing in movies and shows. He looks very much Arab, acts very Arab (well, we'll get to that part), but he is never going to be seen in the Scottsdale Arabian Show ever. But who cares! He's mine! :P
Zeenith some how steals the hearts of people he meets. I don't mean to brag and I'm sure many others horses do this, too, but their is something about a clam, friendly, funny horse that people latch onto. He's been used as a lesson horse for a little girl of eight, (staying calm in situations that, if I was on him, he would have probably tried to disloge me), and my little brother has rode him numorous times at the County Fair and a few smaller horse shows. Like all horses, Zeeny is a good teacher, if you listen to him. He's may look Arab, and occasionally act Arab, but his nickname is Fido...and it's my running joke to say he's full Arab, part dog.
I do many things with him; I show and trail ride him. We do small, open, local shows, and just now starting to place high after years of hard work. He's willing to learn and has progressed very far with just him and me; our trainer doing just lessons and one months worth of training on him. We've jumped (he loves it, I'm just scared he'll break a leg and I'll lose him), done Training Level One Dressage, western pleasure, hunt seat, equitation, horsemanship, and even showmanship. He does it all. Our major set back is his back. Arabs are known for bad backs (they're one vertabrae shorter then most horses which allow them to carry heavier loads, but also contribute to back probems). We struggle with the correct saddle fitting to make him comforatble. Though, I don't know how many times he's put up with something for a show.
Alright, enough of my bragging! :P Here are some quick facts about my 'pony':
